Israa is a medical doctor, Chevening alumna, and Sexual and Reproductive health specialist. SHe was awarded the prestigious Medical Research Council Doctoral Training Partnership (MRC DTP) to pursue a PhD at Liverpool School of Tropical Medicine.
With a consistently incredible academic career from secondary all the way through to her Master’s, Israa is a highly educated and beloved member of her community.
She uses her expertise to help women, girls, adolescents and displaced communities despite facing horrors herself such as displacement, blackouts and bombardment.
Unfortunately, the closure of the borders for all travellers, even for medical evacuations and students, has prevented her from her studies. She was supposed to start at LSTM in October 2024, but the award has been deferred to October 2025. She hopes she can catch the cohort and achieve her dreams.
